Modular Cameras-
The Panasonic 101 is a modular camera that we can use as level 4's.
- "A modular camera is simply a camera built up of individual smaller parts that can be configured in multiple ways. Modular cameras allow for the interchangeability of camera components and accessories. Not only does this mitigate becoming obsolete, but it also gives the user more versatility and uses for the camera." (Settineri, C. 2015) This means that with a modular camera you can be more creative than with a Panasonic 160.
- With the Panasonic 101 camera, you can add and change different parts which include interchangeable lenses, (you can put different branded lenses on the camera by adding a convertor onto the camera first). You can add a Matte Box, a Follow Focus, put the camera on a shoulder rid, and add an HDMI Recorder.
I have never used a modular camera before so this whole session was a learning experience, in the session we learned about how to set up these cameras which is very similar to how you set up any camera. You have to firstly screw on the base plate and attached the metal bars which was different. But the camera settings were very similar but they were in a different place. An HDMI recorder was attached to the camera which allowed us to record on the cameras as we were not given SD cards.
