Recording Audio on a Panasonic 160-
Plugin headphones and make sure headphone volume is turned all the way up to 32 (use + and – buttons under the menu joystick for this)
Menu - AV Out Setup - Audio Out - Select CH1/CH2 to hear CH1 in your left ear and CH2 in your right ear.
Connect the Boom mic to Input 1 with an XLR Cable and make sure that Input 1 is switched to Mic and not Liner and ensure +48v is switched on.
Switch Channel 1 to Input 1 and Manual and switch Channel 2 to Int(R) and Auto.
Do a sound check before you start filming. Set levels while your on-screen subject is talking – watch on the flip-out screen for where the upper limit of their voice reaches on the audio meters.
Adjust levels of Ch1 using the Ch1 levels wheel at the bottom right of the side of the camera.
Check levels on the flip-out screen. Typical dialogue levels should be between the vertical white lines and the top of the scale But avoid hitting the top of the bar. This will cause your audio to peak.
